30 Days Challenge to Known Yourself - Day 24: What does the word "Love" mean to you

Day 24: What does the word "Love" mean to you

What is the meaning of love according to me? I never really knew what true love meant. Maybe since I was a kid, I never saw 'love' that matched my criteria.

Maybe there's a lot of love around me. But, because there's nothing that matches the criteria in my mind, I feel like I haven't found the true meaning of love. What I see might be different in form.

Everything is made worse by what happened to me in the last year. That incident really changed my perspective on love. More precisely, it left wounds and trauma that made me doubt love. It's painful to be hurt by someone I care about, and it can make me hesitant to trust again

Love, in my opinion, should be a beautiful and fulfilling experience.  It shouldn't be painful or destructive. Love should bring peace and security. Love shouldn't have to be obtained by begging and asking. It should be a mutual and respectful exchange between two people who choose to love and support each other.

That's the love that exists in my view.

It's just that what I've been doing all this time is wrong. Thinking that love is a sacrifice and an adjustment. Until I didn't care about myself being hurt, belittled, and shattered.

The most important thing in this world is you. So love yourself first before you love someone else. No one cares about you being hurt except yourself. It's the foundation of a healthy and fulfilling life.  When we love ourselves, we set boundaries, we value our own worth, and we don't allow others to treat us disrespectfully.

So don't let yourself get hurt just because someone comes along and offers 'love' with a different meaning that it shouldn't. We deserve to find someone who loves us for who we are, who treats us with respect, and who makes us feel safe and loved.
