On the other hand, Vera (Meriam Bellina), who previously left for LA after breaking up with Boy, returns to Indonesia. She comes back with her friend, Priska (Venna Melinda). Unexpectedly, Priska is the sister of Emon (Didi Petet), Boy's best friend.
Emon, feeling sad seeing Boy alone, introduces Priska to Boy. Boy feels attracted to Priska, who looks beautiful and charming. They go out together several times until Boy takes Priska to Bandung.
Vera, who has made peace with her feelings, decides to go back to college in Jakarta. The meeting between Boy and Vera is inevitable. Boy's feelings of love resurface, especially seeing Vera who looks even more beautiful. Finally, they start a romantic relationship again.
Priska, who doesn't know that Boy is dating Vera, still tries to get Boy's attention and get close to him. Boy also feels uncomfortable refusing to interact with Vera because of her status as Emon's sister. But problems arise after Priska and Vera meet during a rally race held by Boy. Vera starts to suspect the interaction between Priska and Boy, especially Priska's reaction when Vera tells her about her relationship with Boy.
Will Boy and Vera's relationship fall apart again?
Review:
Catatan Si Boy 2 has a story idea that's still the same as Catatan Si Boy (1987), which is about Boy's love story. Viewers must watch the first sequel first to know the previous story. Although maybe if you watch the second sequel directly, it's okay, but it's a shame like not knowing the whole story.
At the end of the first Catatan Si Boy, we see Boy getting back together with Nuke. But this second sequel is beyond prediction, where before watching this film, I predicted that Boy and Nuke's story would resurface and become the main story idea. That prediction turned out to be wrong, instead, Vera's story, which previously ended, becomes the main story again.
Compared to the first film, this second film is presented better. The development of the story's foundation and the characters is done well. The conflict presented is also more logical and leaves a mark. The resolution is also done well enough, although it feels too rushed.
Emon's character, who didn't get much spotlight in the first sequel, turns out to attract viewers' attention. So, in this second sequel, viewers will see more of Emon's funny antics. Emon also plays a significant role in the story presented. Emon's funny antics also make the story more colorful and not boring.
Unlike the first sequel, which shows a lot of luxury. In this second sequel, it doesn't highlight luxury, although we can still see some components that show the social status of the character. The story and scenes show more of the interaction of the actors.
The actors also show captivating acting by introducing a new character, Priska. The chemistry between the actors is more noticeable. The choice of music is also appropriate and adds to the atmosphere in each scene.
Unfortunately, we still find some wasted scenes. For example, when Emon fights with someone on the street who is carrying a dog. It feels like that scene isn't too important to show because it doesn't have any connection or influence on the story.
Overall, this film is perfect for those who like old films with romance
themes.
Memorable Scene:
Boy has to race a car with Emon as his navigator. With his personality
and his fear of being in the car, Emon still tries hard to be a good navigator.
In this scene, we see that Emon sets aside his fear and professionally carries
out his duties, which ultimately brings good results. In reality, fear often
hinders our journey to achieve something. This is what we need to fix to get
good results.
Memorable Dialogue:
"Reality often changes unexpectedly."
Ending:
Happy Ending
Recommendation:
Worth to Watch
