Day 6: Your favorite movie/drama and why
Is there anyone who doesn't like watching movies or dramas? Yes, maybe there is. But not me. I love movies and dramas, even when I was a kid, all I could do was watch movies or dramas on TV. The only time I watched a movie in the cinema, I only watched patriotic movies.
I still remember my first experience watching a movie in the cinema. I was still a kid then, probably when I was in elementary school. My mother was a junior high school teacher and at that time her school was doing a tour to watch a patriotic movie in the cinema. As the child of a teacher, I got the chance to join. I sat in the back of an old cinema and didn't even really understand the story. Hehehe
A few years later, foreign films like Hollywood, Bollywood, Japanese, Chinese, and others started appearing on TV. Before that, only Indonesian films were often broadcast. Indonesian films that were regulars on TV, like the Susanna film. Many horror films were starred by her.
Let's get back to the topic.
I really love magic, and when I was a kid, magic was so
famous. I would definitely hold back so the TV broadcast wouldn't be changed if
there was a magic performance. This movie I like is related to that.
The Prestige (2006)
This movie tells the story of two magicians, 'Alfred Borden and Robert Angier', who were previously colleagues where they were assistants to a famous magician. But, their relationship becomes strained when Angier's wife, who is also the magician's assistant, dies in a work accident. The accident is believed to be due to the negligence of Borden, who at that time wanted to try to apply a new rope tie trick. The trick made Angier's wife unable to release the tie and she died in the performance.
What makes me fall in love with this movie is definitely the magic theme presented. We can see various kinds of magic performances in it. It even sometimes makes me guess how the trick is done. So it makes this movie so interesting and not boring.
As we know, magic is a trick that 'deceives' the audience. The
competition between the two, who both want to uncover each other's tricks and
create tricks that can't be imitated, is truly impressive. This is a movie I
really love to this day. I even often recommend it to people around me.
