Warning:
Contains violence and sensuality.
Synopsis:
Damon Bradley, the name that came up during a childhood Ouija board game with her brother Larry (Fisher Stevens), has always been Faith's (Marisa Tomei) idea of destiny. But reality bites when she's about to marry her fiancé, Dwayne. Then a phone call changes everything.
It's from Dwayne's friend, who coincidentally is named Damon Bradley. Damon says he can't make the wedding because he's overseas. He's calling from the airport, about to head to Italy. Without a second thought, Faith decides to track him down at the airport, hoping to meet him.
Faith misses Damon, but she's not giving up. She's determined to follow him to Italy. Unexpectedly, her sister-in-law, Kate (Bonnie Hunt), wants to come along. Kate's having problems in her marriage to Larry. She thinks he's cheating and isn't treating her right. The trip to Italy is a chance for her to get away and clear her head.
Faith doesn't have an easy time finding Damon. She keeps missing him and ends up playing a game of cat-and-mouse. Finally, she meets a guy who claims to be Damon and falls for him. But the feeling doesn't last long when she finds out his real name is Peter (Robert Downey Jr.).
Peter pretends to be Damon because he's fallen for Faith and doesn't want to miss the chance to get to know her. He eventually realizes how important "Damon" is to Faith. He tries to find the real Damon, even if it means sacrificing his own feelings for her.
Will Faith ever meet the real Damon?
Review:
Only You has a charming and simple storyline. Fate and destiny are always a bit of a mystery, and this movie makes you think about whether we can ever really know who we're meant to be with. The movie reminds us that following our hearts is important.
The story is well-paced and easy to follow. The beginning, the conflicts, and the resolution are all well-done. While some of the plot points might seem a little far-fetched, like Faith trusting a stranger just based on a name without doing more research, it's still a fun and engaging story.
There are some nice twists and turns that keep you guessing what will happen next. You also get to see some beautiful scenery and interesting places to visit.
The acting is good, and the chemistry between the leads is great. Everyone plays their parts well, and there are no wasted characters.
Overall, this is a light and entertaining
movie that's perfect for fans of romantic comedies.
Memorable Scene:
Peter asks Faith to dance after helping her
get ready, knowing he's going to let her go meet Damon. You can see in his expression that he's both
sad and reluctant to let her go, but he's still trying to do what's best for
her happiness.
Memorable Dialogue:
"I said the question is, do you love him?"
Ending:
Happy Ending
Recommendation:
Must Watch.
