Synopsis of A Beautiful Life:

Li Peiru (Shu Qi) comes to Beijing and tries her luck as a real estate agent. She does everything she can to succeed in her work. Even making herself drink a lot of alcohol with her clients. Peiru, who is heavily drunk, accidentally meets Fang Zhendong (Liu Ye), a police officer who happens to be drinking with his colleagues.

After taking Peiru home, Zhendong realizes that he's attracted to her. However, Peiru has a forbidden love affair with her boss, who already has a wife. Despite this, Zhendong still tries to maintain a good relationship and do whatever Peiru asks, including spying on Peiru's boss.

Zhendong lives with his younger brother who has difficulty speaking and socializing, but has a talent for art. Zhendong shoulders all the burdens himself, and Peiru's presence actually adds to his burden. Peiru, who is a little selfish, makes Zhendong misuse his power as a police officer several times. This results in Zhendong being fired from the police force.

Peiru is fired from her job after finding out that her boss is having an affair with her assistant. Peiru, who tries to start a business, ends up failing. Zhendong, who has sold his house to help fund Peiru's business, only finds the bitter reality where Peiru leaves without giving him any news. Plus, his health deteriorates due to a head injury he suffered a few years ago.

Will the relationship between the two end happily?

Review of A Beautiful Life:

A Beautiful Life is a romantic drama film that depicts the beauty of the meaning of love. The story progresses systematically and is easy to understand. The story is built well from the intro, conflict, and ending. Viewers are made to feel a variety of emotions, from sadness, happiness, and others, and might feel that the story relates to their lives.

Cinematography, camera movement, and color composition are presented well. The soundtrack and sound effects used are also appropriate for each scene. Additionally, this film also uses a soundtrack from a famous Malaysian song that is adapted into Mandarin, Cinta Kita - Amy Search and Inka Christie. So, don't be surprised if you feel familiar with the soundtrack of this film.

The acting from the cast is very good, not stiff, and the chemistry is built well between the actors. Each character has their own role that doesn't overlap. Everything is presented according to its respective portions. So the story is easy to enjoy.

Overall, this film could be a good choice for those who like romantic stories. Although, you might get a little emotional with the characters, like Peiru who seems to be taking advantage of Zhendong for her own benefit or Zhendong who is too stupid and does anything for Peiru. However, this is often what happens in society, where people say 'Love is Blind'.

Memorable Scene:

Peiru, who is at her lowest point, accidentally discovers a message that Zhendong had written on her post-it note. Although the message has been torn off, the writing is still visible. From the writing, Peiru realizes how much Zhendong cares for her.

Through this scene, we can see that even though we think the world is falling apart and no one cares about us, there is actually someone who always cares, only we don't realize it or are too late to realize it.

Memorable Dialogue:

"Thank you for letting me into your life"

Ending:

Happy Ending

Recommendation:

Must Watch
